High Mill is the site of a historic grist mill in the 1800s. In the early 1900s the land was converted to use the natural springs to create a swim park.
The Houston family purchased High Mill Park in the 1970s, transitioning the mud bottom "swimming hole" the a half sand and half cement pool.
In 2001 a tornado hit the beach house and destroyed the concession stand, offices, changing rooms, and open front porch, changing the historic site once again.
We now have gardens where the putt putt course used to be and there is now a huge hoophouse by the old creek that powered the mill.
